Fremont Center for the Arts
Located just off Main Street at 505 Macon Ave in the historic Post Office building. The Fremont Center for the Arts is a non-profit art center, proud of its heritage as the oldest community arts council in the United States. The works of local artists as well as traveling exhibits are featured. Recent exhibits have included the original works of Christo and Jeanne-Claude. The summer of 2007, the gallery will feature the cardboard art of the renown Jessie Montes, and award winning bronze artist Robert Henderson's WWII warbird replicas as well as "A Conversation In Bronze" with many of his other fascinating tributes. May 12, 2007 brings the 3rd Annual Brew Ha Ha Micro brew and Comedy Festival and June 23 & 24 celebrate the 26th Art on the Arkansas fine art and craft weekend - both events take place in Cañon City's beautiful Veteran's Park on Highway 50 at the west end of town.
