Royal Gorge Bridge and Park

On June 11, 2013 the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park experienced a devastating fire which destroyed 90 percent of the buildings and attractions within the park, but leaving the Royal Gorge Bridge relatively unscathed.

The Royal Gorge Bridge and Park is on the fast track to get rebuilt with an August 2014 opening anticipated.  This first phase will include the North Visitor Center with food service, indoor/outdoor seating at approximately 250, and merchandise gift shop in the Visitor Center.  The Royal Rush Skycoaster and Mini-Train will also be open on daily basis at that time.    Amenities available will be Dog Kennels and Rental Carts.

Phase 2 has an anticipated October opening with projected openings of Southside Food/Deck Pavilion, Tram, Zip Rider zip lines, Theater, Children’s Playland. Phase 3 anticipated completion is spring 2015, with the first phase of the Amphitheater.

Beginning March 15, 2014, the Royal Gorge Bridge & Park will offer guided tours on park vehicles through construction zones and over one of the world’s highest suspension bridges, weekends only, weather and construction permitting, park hours will be 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

The group tours will travel to the Royal Gorge Bridge where guests can step off and take in the scenery.  The tour will then travel up to the Royal Rush Skycoaster, the park’s internationally acclaimed thrill ride.   Electricity and weather permitting, guests will be able to ride, or walk up to Point Sublime for another scenic view of the Royal Gorge.

Skycoaster rides are offered at an additional charge. One of the newer additions to the park is guaranteed to give you Colorado's biggest adrenaline rush. The Royal Rush Skycoaster releases harnessed riders from a 100-foot tower and swings out over the Royal Gorge, momentarily suspending you 1,200 feet above the Arkansas River! Thrill seekers will love the free-fall, plummeting up to 50 miles per hour with nothing but air between them and the canyon floor.

The Royal Gorge Bridge and Park has proven the test of time as a great attraction for all ages. Experience the breathtaking views, exhilarating thrills, and historical treasures that abound in this 360-acre natural wonder.
