Fremont County Fair
4H, an organization in which kids complete hands-on projects in areas like health, science, agriculture, and citizenship, has strong roots in Fremont County. Starting as far back as 1925 with 50 members and only a handful of clubs, Fremont County 4H hosted its first Harvest Festival and Poultry Show.
In 1928, the show expanded to a six-day event, and in the years following, more clubs were added. In 1953, the fair moved to its present location at the Fremont County Fair Grounds. But, it wasn’t until 1980 that it became a true County Fair, when additional divisions, like needlework, quilting, leathercraft, woodworking, and fine arts were added.
Today, the Fremont County Fair is a week-long event that hosts competitions in dozens of different categories. It’s worth a trip to the Fremont County Fair to see the amazing skills our youth possess. There are trap, skeet, clays, and rifle competitions, general projects in consumer science, home economics, natural resources, gardening, clothing, heritage arts, and fashion, and a junior rodeo with mutton bustin’, mini bronc riding, mini bull riding, and a calf scramble.
Animals flood the fair. From dogs and rabbits to poultry, cattle, and horses, there are four-legged friends for every interest. Young scientists can participate in rocket launches or see different types of robotics.
